Protect Night-Adapted Vision: NO WHITE LIGHT!!!

Vehicles

  • Try to arrive before dark

  • Turn off headlights - if you can do so safely - when arriving/leaving in dark

  • Avoid "Daytime Running Lights" - check your manual, minimally set parking brake?

  • Drive SLOWLY - don't kick up dust or risk hitting people or equipment

  • Park so that you can drive out without activating your backup lights

  • Turn off or mask interior lights - including trunk light - if possible

Observing

  • Use flashlights with dim red light only

  • Ask equipment owner before touching telescope - a photo might be in progress!

  • If you don't know how to use a telescope, ASK FOR HELP

  • Don't spray insect repellant near optical equipment

  • Keep food/beverages away from optical equipment

  • "Subdued" sound levels are generally appreciated
