NOTES:

Tail of Comet McNaught remaining in western sky. The streamers look like a faint distant searchlight beam, or aurora. The Zodiacal light is seen in the image.  Delphinus is towards the right margin.

  • Paul Robinson in a post to FRAC, reported 2 streamers with unaided eyes from Comet McNaught first on 16-Jan-2007, seen from Flagstaff Rd near Boulder.  This is the following night.
  • The brighter streamers showed well in 10x40 binoculars. 
  • The area of the tail is about 10 by 15 degrees in the image.
  • This image was taken about 1 hour 40 minutes after sunset.
